Retailers Should Be Focusing on Safety and Gift Cards This Holiday Shopping Season

The holiday shopping season is just around the corner and unlike the past, this year is going to look a whole lot different. Retail stores are faced with attracting customers as the second wave of COVID-19 looms. So, what are the things that retailers can do now to get customers through the door and increase sales?

Safety, Safety, Safety!

When it comes to safety, the most important thing for retailers to do is to market their messaging. Make sure your safety protocols are prominent in your outward messaging and inside the store. You need to live up to your safety protocols for the benefit of your staff and ensure that these are visible to your customers. “Build safety and build trust!”

Focus on Gift Cards

Almost every survey that I have read points to gift cards selling more this holiday season than ever before. Gift cards are easy to buy and can be purchased without much contact. They can be bought online and shipped directly. If you don’t have gift cards, it might already be too late, but if you have them it’s time to start marketing them.

So why are gift cards so great?

They give you money without taking any product. When the person using the gift card redeems it, they usually end up spending more than the value. Finally, the reality is that not every gift card gets redeemed.
