A year has passed since the pandemic changed our lives. It’s only natural that many of us are getting a little stressed and experiencing a lot of anxiety and frustration with the situation. I know I am!
Earlier, I was at a retail store and asked how things were going with customers. Interestingly, at the start of the pandemic, they would have one customer per month who misbehaved. Unfortunately, it accelerated from there to nowadays, where it’s not uncommon that they have someone coming in daily that’s frustrated.
Listen, I get it. I’m a bit of an assertive personality type. When I’m stuck in a line, have to stand on a dot, or wait, I can feel frustrated. We all have to really work at and remember that these folks on the retail frontlines are there in service of us. They have been going through a ton, and they deserve the best versions of us. Next time when you are dealing with a retail store employee and start getting frustrated, take a deep breath and say thank you to them.
Hopefully, we’re almost at the end of this thing, and we need to start showing a lot more gratitude for the people helping us out.
It’s time we thank everyone working on the frontlines for doing a great job. And for all the rest of us, let’s be on our best behaviour when we are out there.
