Your Leadership Engagement Quiz: Learning From Your Shortcomings

We all talk about employee engagement.  We all know how important it is to driving results.  And, there’s certainly no shortage of tactical solutions you could implement to improve engagement levels.

Yet, what’s always true is the undeniable link between the quality of Leadership and Employee Engagement.  That’s not a tactical approach, but rather, an introspective angle on how Leaders (regardless of their level in the organization) make the largest impact on engagement.

We all make mistakes.  We all have shortcomings.  The point is to identify and correct them.

To that end, here’s a simple ‘quiz’ for you.  There’s no correct answer.  Rather, it’s your opportunity to reflect on opportunities missed, and in the process find a better way forward as a Leader.

  1. Self Honesty
Do what you say you will do. Your word is your bond. Live up to your commitments.

When have you broken your word with your teams?

  2. Responsibility
Own your actions.  Sends a message to others that they too should be accountable for the job they do. Put less blame on others, company, technology, etc.    Focus on looking for solutions.

When have you failed to own your actions?

  3. Integrity
What you are doing is aligned with your beliefs, core values. Be true to yourself.

What do you do that is not true to your core values?

  4. Lead with the heart!
Show your passion in every conversation, store visit, phone call and email.

    When does your passion wane?

  5. Transparency
Don’t be afraid of sharing personal stories that illustrate that you are real and genuine.

What walls do you keep up in front of you that prevent you from being vulnerable?
